Applique Canvas Bag Workshop
I spent 30 hours planning, budgeting, designing and preparing pattern pieces, setting up machines and tools, and creating samples to teach a 4 hour soft fabrication workshop for 9 students in the Carnegie Mellon Makerspace.

The Makerspace that I work in rarely attracts students who use the soft fabrication resources. I realized that this was not due to a lack of interest in the subject, but rather a lack of knowledge of how to use the tools and machines.

I designed a workshop which taught students how to design turned-edge appliques, work with quilting rulers and tailor's chalk, thread and set up the sewing machines, adjust machine settings to suit a project, properly use the irons to create bias tape style straps, sew pattern pieces together, use use finishing processes to refine the final product.
